Latinas Acting Up (LAU) is a group of SAG-AFTRA and other entertainment industry union Latinas, who came together in solidarity during the 2023 strike against the AMPTP. After 6 months of standing strong for equitable and sustainable wages, residual compensation, and protections against AI, LAU became more than just a group of united picketers, a sisterhood was born.
Co-founders, actors Diana Maria Riva and Lisa Vidal saw the need to turn LAU into an official platform offering community, mentorship, empowerment, and most importantly, hermanidad. With over 500 registered members, Latinas Acting Up has created the Casa LAU community platform in order to provide a virtual home for members to connect, collaborate, and have access to panels, resources, mentorship, and more! The group includes Latinas in all entertainment industry unions, including but not limited to SAG-AFTRA, WGA, IATSE, Teamsters and others.
Latinas Acting Up invites you to join our community of passionate individuals committed to raising the visibility and representation of Latinas in Hollywood!! We are excited to launch Casa LAU - a private, safe, virtual hub for our registered LAU hermanas to connect.
